Potable Water Treatment
Many of our water supply projects require some consideration for
water/chemical treatment, including disinfection, adjustment of pH,
fluoridation, corrosion control and/or treatment for iron and
manganese. Projects completed during our 25 years of experience have
included the following scopes of work: |
- Upgrade of ten (10) separate chlorination stations located
throughout the water distribution system at the New Port Naval
Station, including advanced injection and control systems.
Residual chlorine analyzers were installed at each facility, along
with chemical metering pumps to inject only the dosage of chlorine
required for the specific site. Systems were designed to provide
only the amount of sodium hypochlorite required for disinfection,
while limiting and controlling the resulting THM levels.
- One year pilot study to analyze the effectiveness of sodium
silicate for corrosion control, followed by a system wide upscale
for application.
- Installation of sodium silicate and passive chlorite at four
schools to address corrosion control.
- Installation of sodium silicate treatment systems at two
schools to address corrosion control.
- Design of a new pump station and the rehabilitation of another
in which chemical treatment using sodium hypochlorite was required
for disinfection, sodium hydroxide for pH control and sodium
fluoride for fluoridation.
- Design of a new well station, booster pump station and
elevated water storage facility where sodium hypochlorite chemical
treatment was required for disinfection.
- Design of chemical control and metering systems for sodium
hypochlorite disinfection and sodium bisulfate for chorine
neutralization. Monitoring systems for residual chorine and pH
were also designed to control the injection process.
- Engineering design for the conversion of a gas chlorine
disinfection system to liquid chlorine, where we designed all the
components for the conversion including tanks, chemical metering
pumps, and controls.
