Resource Controls was contracted by the City of Taunton, Office of Economic and Community Development (the City) to design a remediation plan and obtain cost proposals for the remediation and demolition for a former mill building that had become contaminated by asbestos. The building had deteriorated due to neglect by the prior owner and a fire that damaged approximately one third of the 96,000 square foot building. As a result, the majority of the structure and debris piles and site soils had become contaminated by asbestos. The remediation project includes the controlled demolition of the existing structure, segregation of non-contaminated debris for separate disposal, the decontamination of asbestos contaminated material such as metal trusses and beams and the transportation and disposal of asbestos-contaminated debris at an approved landfill. Resource Controls is also assisting in the completion of the project by providing construction management services, contractor oversight and compliance air monitoring during the implementation of the designed remedial project. MCP Phase site assessments will follow removal of debris.
